Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading their performance. They can be a great source of additional damage, more AD or even more attachments.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. However, it's important note that this will also increase its weight, which will cause it to weigh more than it was before.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and they all have different effects. For item enhancement system , some upgrades will give the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the area and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are definitely worth the cost.
The process of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically boost its defense, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its agility and speed. For this reason, it is generally not recommended to upgrade armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is typically not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance, an upgrade may increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Certain firearms have upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You're better off buying gear that has low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a higher likelihood of granting you highest level of advantages and benefits.
The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they most often use to help them level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will enhance its effectiveness when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ according to the tier that the jewel is in when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for them. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped by a different jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. However, you can only replace the jewels in an item of equipment only once.
The use of more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother, and is often done for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also acquire glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like aegis or traits cannot be exchanged and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets can provide your hero with a variety of small, but useful benefits. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar fashion similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets can also grant bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not fighting. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active and may also help to compensate for the absence of a solid team or any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's ideal stats.
As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Next, any items that have desirable statistics aren't as significant as the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade as it's often better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.
In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies.
